On the northwestern border of MT, northwest of Great Falls, bordering Alberta province, Canada and Glacier National Park; organized Feb 17, 1919 from Flathead and Teton counties. Name Origin: For Glacier National Park on the county's western border.

Area (sq mi): 3037.11 (land 2994.72; water 42.39). Pop per sq mi: 4.50.
Pop 2005: 13,552. State rank: 13. Pop change: 2000-20005 2.30%; 1990-2000 9.30%. Pop 2000: 13,247 (White 35.30%; Black or African American 0.10%; Hispanic or Latino 1.20%; Asian 0.10%; Other 64.50%). Foreign born: 2.10%. Median age: 30.60.
Income 2000: per capita $11,597; median household $27,921; Pop below poverty level: 27.30%. *Personal per capita income 2000-2003: $16,378-$18,549.
