Nowadays, each stair has been complemented with a lift, but the vertical circulation drums, partly toplit and enclosed by glass brick walls are luminous, far more than simple vertical circulation shafts. It's a cutesy kind of place, certainly not elaborate, but sporting a blue carpet, blue-toned flowered tablecloths, blond wood and a mantled glass brick set-up that looks like it covers what once was a fireplace. Recycled car wheel hubs form vents, and old beer bottle bottoms, placed end to end, are used in p laces as glass bricks (rather to the initial distress of the Muslim general contractor, who later become reconciled to the technique). |
