Glassboro, borough (1990 pop. 15,614), Gloucester co., SW N.J.; settled 1775, inc. 1920. It is a trade and processing center for a fruit-growing (especially apples) region and has light manufacturing. The founding industry, glass, is still important. Glassboro State College (renamed Rowan State College in 1992) was the site of a summit meeting (1967) between President Lyndon Johnson and Soviet Premier Aleksei Kosygin. |
