Glebov, Igor’ Alekseevich
Born Jan. 8 (21), 1914, in St. Petersburg. Soviet specialist in electric power. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976; corresponding member, 1974). Member of the CPSU since 1943. Glebov graduated from the M. I. Kalinin Leningrad Polytechnical Institute in 1938 and served in the Soviet Army from 1941 to 1946. He was a staff member of a scientific research institute from 1946 to 1951 and of the Leningrad Technological Institute of the Food-processing Industry from 1951 to 1961. He joined the staff of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Electric Machine Building in 1961 and was appointed the institute’s director in 1973. Glebov’s principal works deal with electric power systems, the application of mathematical modeling in power engineering, and the design of electric machinery and semiconductor converters. He is president of the International Conference on Large Hightension Electric Systems. Glebov received the State Prize of the USSR in 1968 and has been awarded the Order of the October Revolution, five other orders, and various medals.
