C6H8(OH)6Combustible, white, water-soluble, hygroscopic crystals with a sweet taste; melt at 93 to 97.5°C (depending on the form); used in cosmetic creams and lotions, toothpaste, and resins; as a food additive; and for ascorbic acid fermentation.
