Gluck, Alma (gl k), 1884–1938, American soprano, b. Bucharest, Romania. Her real name was Reba Fiersohn. She sang (1909–12) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City, and was one of the first singers to make phonograph records. In 1914 she married Efrem Zimbalist. Her daughter, by a previous marriage, was the writer Marcia Davenport.Gluck, Alma (b. Reba Fiersohn) (1884–1938) soprano; born in Bucharest, Rumania. Brought to America as a child, she received her musical training in America and went on to become a favorite at the Metropolitan Opera (1909–12) before pursuing a successful concert and recording career.
