Aruncus

a genus of plants of the family Rosaceae. They are perennial tall herbs with bipinnate or tripinnate leaves and large panicles of small white or cream-colored flowers. The plants are dioecious. There are approximately ten species in the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. In the USSR there are four species in the mountains of the Caucasus, in Eastern Siberia, and in the Far East. The plants grow on the edges of forests, on slopes, and in shrub thickets. They are valuable ornamental plants, especially the staminal specimens. The species Aruncus dioicus has long been cultivated.
