Cavaignac, Godefroy Éléonore Louis
Born 1801 in Paris; died there May 5, 1845. French politician. Bourgeois republican. Brother of General L.-E. Cavaignac. Cavaignac participated in the July Revolution of 1830. During the July monarchy he was a leader of the republican Society of Friends of the People and participated in the republican uprising in Paris in April 1834. He was imprisoned in Paris. He escaped in July 1835 and lived in Great Britain until 1841. Back in France, Cavaignac contributed to the opposition newspaper La Réforme in 1843. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
