Goldin, Nikolai Vasil’evich 

Born Mar. 7 (20). 1910. in the city of Grishino (present-day Krasnoarmeisk, Donetsk Oblast). Soviet statesman. Member of the CPSU since 1929.

Goldin was born into the family of a railwayman. He began working in 1924 as a metalworker in a railroad depot. He graduated from the Kharkov Electromechanical Institute in 1937. From 1937 to 1939 he was a work superintendent and engineer at the Elektromontazh Trust in Kharkov. After 1939 he held leading posts in construction. He was deputy minister of construction of heavy industrial enterprises of the USSR (1950–53). deputy minister of construction of the USSR (1953–54). deputy minister of construction of metallurgical and chemical enterprises of the USSR (1954–57), deputy chairman of the Kemerovo council of the national economy (1957–58), chief construction engineer of the Bhilai metallurgical combine in India (1958–61). and deputy minister of assembly and special construction work of the USSR (196567). In February 1967 he was appointed minister of construction of heavy industrial enterprises of the USSR. He was elected to the Central Committee of the CPSU at the Twenty-fourth Congress of the party in 1971. He was a deputy to the seventh and eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Goldin has been chairman of the Society for Soviet-Indian Cultural Relations since 1970. He received the State Prize of the USSR in 1949 and has been awarded the Order of Lenin four times, six other orders, and medals.
