the skin of a premature karakul (Persian) lamb or of a fetus taken from the womb of a dead or prematurely killed pregnant ewe. The age of the fetus from which the skin is taken is 115–125 days. The skins are covered with short, smooth hair, with or without a barely perceptible moiré. After treatment the skins are used in millinery and dress trimmings.
