Golstunskii, Konstantin Fedorovich 

Born June 2 (14), 1831. in Vasil’sursk, present-day Gorky Oblast; died June 22 (July 4), 1899, in St. Petersburg. Russian scholar of the Mongol language, literature, and laws.

Golstunskii graduated from the history and philology department of the University of Kazan in 1853. In 1860 he became a professor at the University of St. Petersburg. In 1880 he published his doctoral dissertation. Mongol-Oirot Laws of 1640, Supplementary Edicts of Galdan-khun-Taidzhii, and Laws Composed for the Volga Kalmyks Under the Kalmyk Khan Donduk-Dashi, which contained the full Oirot text and a translation of this monument of the history of the Mongols, accompanied by a commentary. Golstunskii compiled a large Mongol-Russian dictionary in which Kalmyk vocabulary is taken into account and Buddhist terminology is treated.
