Goluzin, Gennadii Mikhailovich 

Born Jan. II (24), 1906. in Torzhok; died Jan. 17, 1952, in Leningrad. Soviet mathematician. Professor at Leningrad University (from 1938).

Goluzin worked in the field of the theory of analytic functions. His work includes a number of extremely important results in the theory of Schlicht analytic functions. Specifically, he found the definitive form of the “rotation theorem,” which gives an accurate evaluation for the angles of rotation of tangents to curves in conformal mapping. Goluzin was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1948.
