González Tun̄ón, Raul 

Born 1905. Argentine poet.

In the poetry collections The Devil’s Fiddle (1926), Ash Wednesdays (1928). and Street of the Holey Stocking (1930), González voiced despair and nonacceptance of the bourgeois world. The verse collections Rose in Armor (1936), Fiery Gates (1938), Death in Madrid (1939), and The Poems of Juancito the Wanderer (1941) are dedicated to the revolutionary struggle of the Argentine and Spanish peoples. During World War II, González wrote poetry about the courage of the Soviet people, and later he wrote about the struggle for peace (the collection of poems All the World’s Peoples Are Brothers, 1954).
