Goode, John (Paul) (1862–1932) cartographer, geographer; born near Stewartville, Minn. In 1903 he helped found the department of geography at the University of Chicago. His work in cartographic representation and "projections" was a great boost to American geography in the first third of the century. He also displayed great knowledge of economic geography.
