Goodhue, Benjamin (1748–1814) U.S. representative/senator; born in Salem, Mass. A prosperous merchant, he was chosen to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives (Fed., 1789–96) and the U.S. Senate (1796–1800), where he served as chairman of the Committee on Commerce.
