Google bomb

    0.01 sec.
Google bomb
A campaign that causes a particular Web page to rank first in the Google results list based on specific keywords. The first Google bomb was unleashed in 1999, which caused the Microsoft home page to rank first for the key words "more evil than Satan himself." Another famous Google bomb in 2004 produced a biography page of George W. Bush as number one for the keywords "miserable failure."

Create a Bunch of Links
Google ranks the order of the results pages based on how many links point to the pages. A Google bomb is deployed by creating numerous links on new or existing Web pages that all point to a target page with the same link text. Thus, anyone with a popular blog, who can influence thousands of people, can effect a Google bomb. See link text and spamdexing.

A Google bomb happens when a big number of diverse websites link to a page with the same link text to manipulate the ranking of that page for a search term.
You see, even though the term Google Bomb is used as the prevalent description for the practice, other engines too are having trouble screening out the bombs.
If so, now is the time to start taking some action because if you do not change the way you are optimizing a web site you will be feeling the Google Bomb on the next update.
