Gordon, Caroline (1895–1981) writer, teacher; born in Trenton, Ky. She graduated from Bethany College, W.Va. (B.A. 1916), and married Allen Tate (1924; divorced 1954). She worked as a reporter in Tennessee (1920–24), taught at several institutions, including the University of North Carolina and Columbia, and long lived in Princeton, N.J.
