Gorokhovskaia, Mariia Kondrat’evna
Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Evpatoriia. Soviet athlete, Honored Master of Sports (1952), international sports judge (1964), teacher. Gorokhovskaia was overall Olympic champion (1951–52) and world champion (1954) of athletic gymnastics. She was overall USSR champion (1951–52) and many times USSR champion (1948–54) of various forms of gymnastics in all-around combined tournaments. She was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
