Saugatuck Dunes State Park

Location: In Allegan County, west of Highway 196 via Exit to 64th Street, then west on 138th Avenue to park.
Facilities: Picnic area and shelter, trails (13 miles).
Activities: Hiking, cross-country skiing, wildlife observation.
Special Features: Saugatuck Dunes is a day use park along a secluded strip of Lake Michigan shoreline. The park's major attractions are the long sandy beaches and the 300-acre natural area, which contains a coastal dune system as well as three endangered plant species. Some of the dunes are more than 200 feet tall.

Hope College, Holland MI A combination of loss on ignition and wet sieving was used to obtain the weight percent organic detritus, sand and silt/clay in vibracores from Goshorn Lake at the eastern edge of the Saugatuck coastal dune complex.
