On southern border of GA, west of Valdosta; organized Aug 17, 1905 from Decatur and Thomas counties. Name Origin: For Henry Woodfin Grady (1850-89), GA orator and journalist, editor, and part-owner of the Atlanta Constitution.

In south-central OK, southwest of Oklahoma City; organized Nov 16, 1907 from Caddo and Comanche counties. Name Origin: For Henry Woodfin Grady (1850-89), orator and editor of the Atlanta Constitution newspaper, whose writings and ideas helped alleviate the post-Civil War depression of the South.
