Graffman, Gary (1928– ) pianist; born in New York City. He began studying at the Curtis Institute at age eight and two years later made his New York debut. His ensuing international career, mainly playing the Romantics, was cut short by a hand ailment in 1979. He went on to teach at Curtis.
