A unit of force in the centimeter-gram-second gravitational system, equal to the gravitational force on a 1-gram mass at a specified location. Abbreviated gf. Also known as fors; gram-weight; pond.

Gram-Force

a fractional unit of force in the meter-kilogram-force-second units. Its abbreviated form in international usage is G. In a number of countries this unit is called pond (ρ). 1 G equals 0.001 kilogram-force. Gram-force can also be defined as the force necessary to impart to a mass of lg an acceleration of 980.665 cm/sec². The relationship between gram-force and newton, a unit of force in the International System of Units, is 1 G = 9.80665 x 10^-3 newton.
