Granatkin, Valentin Aleksandrovich
Born July 3(16), 1908, in the village of Ryblovo, present-day Rybolovo, in Ramenskii Raion, Moscow Oblast. Soviet athlete, public figure, Honored Master of Sports (1942), Honored Cultural Worker of the RSFSR (1968), engineer. Granatkin became a member of the CPSU in 1939. He graduated from the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU. He is vice-president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA, from 1946) and chairman of the USSR Football Federation (1950–64 and from 1968).
