Activities: Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, rafting. Special Features: Forest encompasses Grand Mesa, world's largest flat top mountain. Lands End Observatory, built in 1935 by Project Works Administration, overlooking the Grand and Gunnison River valleys with views of LaSal Mountains in Utah and the San Juan Mountains of Colorado; Slugmullion Earth Slide, a continually-moving natural earth flow which began over 700 years ago and created a dam across the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River to form Lake San Cristobal; Dry Mesa Dinosaur Quarry, located on the rim of a deep canyon.
