Granite Bay State Marine Park Location: On the northwest corner of Esther Island, 25 mile from Whittier. Park is one of several state marine parks that can be reached from Whittier and is accessible only by boat. Facilities: Undeveloped. Activities: Primitive tent camping in selected areas, boating, fishing, hiking, climbing, wildlife observation. Special Features: Park includes two bays, protective islands, muskeg and old growth forest uplands. Anchorage is excellent in both bays and can accommodate many boats at once. Most of the shoreline is steep granite cliffs, boulders, and slabs. The surrounding hills afford panoramic views and provide excellent hiking and climbing opportunities. Tange Lake is stocked with rainbow trout.
