Grant, Julia (b. Boggs Dent) (1826–1902) First Lady; born in St. Louis, Mo. Sister of a West Point classmate of Ulysses S. Grant, they were married in 1848. She helped Grant cope with his bouts of depression and hard drinking. The public admired her style in the White House. She later wrote an autobiography, not published until 1975.
