Grant's (Bill) Bluegrass Festival Early August The oldest and largest bluegrass festival west of the Mississippi is held for five days near Hugo, Okla. The festival began in 1969, organized by Bill Grant as an extension of jam sessions in his home. Attendance the first year was less than 1,000; now more than 20,000 show up.
