Established: Dedicated on April 27, 1897. National Park Service administration authorized on August 14, 1958.
Location: Overlooks the Hudson River from the Mornside Heights section of Manhattan. Near the intersection of Riverside Dr. and West 122nd St.
Facilities: Visitor center/museum.
Activities: Ranger-guided programs and tours.
Special Features: This memorial to Ulysses S. Grant, the Union commander who brought the Civil War to an end, includes the tombs of General and Mrs. Grant. As the President of the United States (1869-1877), Grant signed the act establishing the first national park, Yellowstone, on March 1, 1872.
