Pop per sq mi: 101.10. Pop 2005: 53,674. State rank: 50. Pop change: 2000-20005 10.70%; 1990-2000 26.50%. Pop 2000: 48,498 (White 59.30%; Black or African American 34.90%; Hispanic or Latino 4.00%; Asian 0.40%; Other 4.00%). Foreign born: 4.00%. Median age: 36.20.
