Gray, Bowman (Jr.) (1907–69) cigarette executive; born in Winston-Salem, N.C. In 1930 he joined R. J. Reynolds Tobacco (of which his father was president), and served variously as president, chairman, and CEO (1959–69). A prominent apologist for the tobacco industry, he was responsible for developing the Winston and Salem brands and diversifying the company into the food industry. How to thank TFD for its existence?
