Green, Constance (McLaughlin) (1897–1975) historian; born in Ann Arbor, Mich. Her Holyoke, Massachusetts: A Case History of the Industrial Revolution in America (1939), based on her Yale Ph.D. dissertation, established her as a pioneer in urban history. Washington: Village and Capital, 1800—1878 (1962) received the Pulitzer Prize in history (1963).
