Green, David Ezra 

Born Aug. 5. 1910. in New York. American biochemist; fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (I960) and member of the National Academy of Sciences (1962).

Green received his bachelor’s degree in 1930 and his master’s degree in 1932 from New York University. He studied oxidative enzymes at Cambridge University, receiving his Ph.D. in 1934. He worked at the Harvard Medical School in 1940 and 1941 and at Columbia University from 1941 to 1948. In 1948 he founded the Institute of Enzyme Research at the University of Wisconsin. He is known for his studies of the structure of the mitochondrion and oxidative phosphorylation.
