Green, James Stephen (1817–70) U.S. representative/senator; born in Rectortown, Va. A lawyer, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., Mo.; 1847–51), and was chargé d'affaires for Colombia (1853–54). In the Senate (1857–61), he sponsored the statehood of Kansas.
