Green development

A sustainable approach to real estate development that incorporates environmental issues such as efficient and appropriate use of land, energy, water, and other resources; protection of significant habitats, endangered species, archeological treasures, and cultural resources; and integration of work, habitat, and agriculture. A development approach that integrates environmental responsiveness, benefits the surrounding environment, provides resource efficiency in the construction, development and operations of buildings and/or communities in ways that are not wasteful, and sensitivity to the existing culture of the community. Green development supports human and natural communities and cultural development while remaining economically viable for owners and tenants.
