Greenwood, Robert
Born Mar. 8. 1897. in Crosshill, York. English writer. In the novels Mr. Bunting (1940) and Mr. Bunting at War (1941), which were collectively known as Mr. Bunting in War and Peace (1941; Russian translation, 1943), Greenwood embodied English patriotism in a stupid commoner, concealing the question of the goals and problems of Great Britain in World War II. He also devoted the novel The Squad Goes Out (1943; Russian translation. 1944) to the theme of war.
