Gregorovius, Ferdinand (grĕgərō`vēəs, Ger. fĕr`dēnänt grā'gōrō`vē s), 1821–91, German historian. He spent many years in Rome, where he produced his authoritative History of the City of Rome in the Middle Ages (8 vol., 1859–72; tr. 1894–1900).
