Greisening

(geology), a medium-temperature process of the alteration of granites under the action of gases and solutions given off by cooling granitic bodies. In the greisening process, light-colored micas (lepidolite and muscovite) are formed from the granite feldspars. As a result of greisening, the parent rock is turned into greisens.
