Griffin, Marion (b. Mahony) (1871–1961) architect; born in Chicago. Trained at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she was a designer and delineator for Frank Lloyd Wright (1895–1910), becoming known for her renderings and interior designs and for producing the drawings published in Wright's so-called Wasmuth Portfolio (1910). Problems of attribution in her work with Wright continued in her close collaboration with her husband Walter Burley Griffin; in Australia (1914–35), though uncredited, she is known to have contributed decisively to the designs for Canberra (1912), Castlecrag Community (1921–35), Sydney and the Capitol Theatre, Melbourne (1924). After her husband's death she established an independent practice in Chicago (1938). How to thank TFD for its existence?
