Grigorovich, Konstantin Petrovich
Born Sept. 18 (30), 1886; died Sept. 12, 1943. One of the founders of the Soviet school of electrometallurgists. Professor (1921); doctor of technical sciences (1934). Born in Nikolaev. In 1913, Grigorovich graduated from St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute and worked in the Putilov Plant. He took part in designing and setting up the first Soviet plant for the manufacture of high-grade steel, the Elektrostal’ Plant (in Moscow Oblast). In 1920 he organized the subdepartment of electrometallurgy at the Moscow Academy of Mining (since 1930, called the Moscow Institute of Steel). Grigorovich took part in the construction of the first large ferroalloy works (Cheliabinsk Plant, Zestafoni Plant, and Zaporozh’e Plant). In 1931 he became technical director of the trust Spetsstal’ (subsequently called Glavspetsstal’). He was awarded the Order of Lenin. WORKSElektrometallurgiia zheleza, part I.
