Grin’ko, Fedor Mitrofanovich 

Born Feb. 16 (28), 1896, in the village of Bol’shie Mostovishchi, present-day Velikaia Bagachka Raion, Poltava Oblast; died Aug. 23, 1966, in the village of Rodina, Shipunovskii Raion, Altai Krai. A figure in the Soviet kolkhoz movement. Hero of Socialist Labor (1948). Member of the CPSU from 1929.

From 1933 to 1966, Grin’ko was president of the Rodina Kolkhoz, Shipunovskii Raion, Altai Krai (in 1933, the Novyi svet Commune). Under his leadership the kolkhoz systematically raised the yield of its grain crops. In 1954 an average hectare of land on an area of 4,485 hectares (ha) produced 18.9 centners of grain. In 1958, an average hectare on an area of 9,672 ha yielded 20.8 centners of grain. The Rodina Kolkhoz won first prize in the socialist competition in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Grin’ko was a deputy to the first through fourth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was awarded three Orders of Lenin and two other orders, as well as medals.
