Grishin, Mikhail Mikhailovich
Born Sept. 17 (29), 1891, in the village of Veret’ia. in present-day Tula Oblast. Soviet scientist in the field of hydraulic engineering. Doctor of Technical Sciences (1941); Honored Scientific and Technical Worker of the RSFSR (1957). Grishin graduated from the Institute of Transportation and Communications Engineers (Petrograd) in 1916 and has engaged in teaching and scientific work in institutions of higher learning since 1920. Since 1931 he has been a professor and head of the subdepartment of hydraulic-engineering structures at the Moscow Engineering and Construction Institute. He was assistant director and chief engineer of the Hydraulic Planning Institute from 1940 to 1947. His main works are on the theory, planning, and construction of hydraulic-engineering works and on problems of river control and the development of water projects. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, medals, and the Order of Cyril and Methodius First Class (People’s Republic of Bulgaria). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
