Gross, Harold (Royce) (1899–1987) U.S. representative; born in Arispe, Iowa. Educated in rural schools, he served in the Mexican border campaigns of 1916 and overseas during World War I. After graduating from the Missouri School of Journalism, he worked as a newspaperman (1921–35) and radio news commentator (1935–48). He served in the U.S. House of Representatives (Rep., Iowa; 1949–75).
