Informed by contemporary feminist and poststructuralist paradigms and critical discourse theories, this paper asserts that gender is a social construct constituted by and through the repetition of social, embodied and discursive practices (Butler 1990, 1993; Davies 1989; Grosz 1990, 1995).
Her work is more classical than she wants it to seem; like George Grosz in the '20s, she talks about a disturbing world by painting absurd and grotesque images, but always using a brilliant technique.
The language and logic of at least is introduced by Irigaray and taken up (most significantly) by Elizabeth Grosz, in work on the ethical and political significance of sexual difference.
