Ground-Cherry
(Cerasus fruticosa), a low shrub measuring 0.5–1.5 m tall of the family Rosaceae. The twig-like shoots bear obovate, elliptic, or lanceolate leaves, and the inflorescence is three- or four-flowered. The red fruits are sour, sometimes astringent; they are eaten raw and in processed form. The shrub is used as stock for the common cherry; it is important in the cultivation of climbing forms.
