Grousset, Pascal
Born Apr. 7, 1845. in Corte, Corsica: died 1909. in Paris. Member of the Paris Commune of 1871. Publicist. At the end of the 1860’s. Grousset contributed to the republican newspaper Marseillaise and was prosecuted for his anti-Bonapartist attacks. He was on the Foreign Relations and Executive committees of the Commune. Grousset sided with the Commune’s Blanquist wing. After the crushing of the Paris Commune he was exiled to New Caledonia, from which he escaped in 1874. He lived first in the United States and then in England, returning to France after the amnesty of 1880. From the I870*s through the 1890’s. Grousset was engaged in literary and publicistic activity.
