The Guadalquivir River makes a dramatic loop southward as it passes the city of Cordoba on its way to the Atlantic. Seville's La Cartuja, on the island of that name in the Guadalquivir River, was built as the Carthusian monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas. Sightseers and shoppers can meet again in the evening for a visit to the lively squares of the Barrio de Santa Cruz (the medieval Jewish Quarter) or the boardwalk restaurants, cafes and clubs along the Guadalquivir River. |
