In east-central NM, east of Albuquerque; organized Feb 26, 1891 from Lincoln and San Miguel counties (prior to statehood). Name Origin: For Our Lady of Guadalupe, patron saint of Mexico.

In south-central TX, east of San Antonio; organized Mar 30, 1846 from Bexar and Gonzales counties. Name Origin: For the Guadalupe River, which traverses the county; named for Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico.
