Guayaquí
an Indian tribe of South America. The Guayaqui live in the forests of eastern Paraguay, in the almost inaccessible foothill regions of the Caaguazú mountain range. Exact population unknown. The Guayaqui belong to the Tupi-Guarani group of tribes. Their main occupations are hunting, fishing, and gathering; bows and arrows are used for weapons. The Guayaqui do not live in permanent villages but roam from place to place in search of game. REFERENCESHandbook of South American Indians, vol. 1. Smithsonian Institution.
