Gulistan

Gulistan 

(until 1961, Mirzachul’), a city and center of Syr Darya Oblast, Uzbek SSR. Located in the southeastern part of the Golodnaia Steppes on the Great Uzbek Highway, 120 km southwest of Tashkent. Railroad station on the Tashkent-Khavast line. Population, 31,000 (1970). There is a cotton ginning plant, a dairy and creamery, and a machine repair plant in Gulistan. Medical and preschool pedagogical schools are also located there. Gulistan was originally founded as a settlement at the end of the 19th century.

I read in the Gulistan, or Flower Garden, of Sheik Sadi of Shiraz, that "they asked a wise man, saying: Of the many celebrated trees which the Most High God has created lofty and umbrageous, they call none azad, or free, excepting the cypress, which bears no fruit; what mystery is there in this?
