Gul’khani, Mukhammed Sharif 

Dates of birth and death unknown. Poet of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Wrote in Tadzhik and Uzbek.

Gul’khani was a sarbaz (soldier) in the service of the Khan of Kokand. His creative work is similar to folk poetry and democratic in spirit. The originator of the fable in Uzbek literature, Gul’khani is also known as the author of the satirical work Stories About the Owl.
